Ripples

In preparation for this coming week-end message on "Knowing God vs. Believing
in God", I was affected by the testimony by a young woman named Caroline.
Though the primary focus of the story was on her desire to align her lifestyle with
her 'talk', one of the unexpected consequences was her ability to affect the life of a person who was far from God.
We all tend to be so "me" centered in our culture, that we forget that God really
wants to use us to reach others. Often, the only thing that is preventing that is our
unwillingness to obey Him in the nitty gritty of our daily decisions.(We all struggle
with this!)
Once Caroline decided to live for the Lord, she was then able to touch another
young woman who, by her own admission, "didn't know God". The two have
become good friends and both are on a journey of spiritual growth!
"Knowing God" is about "obeying God" in one sense (Jesus said it this way: "You
are my friends if you keep my commandments"--John 15:14). It's a clue that
though love is unconditional, 'knowing' requires obedience.
What we can't begin to appreciate is how many others will be blessed because
of those steps of obedience. It's the 'ripples' of our lives that touch other hearts!
