I read recently that Dr. Martin Luther King was being "counseled" by his closest advisors to "just wait" on the eve of his famous march on the Capital back in the 1960s.
Dr. King responded this way when he said, "No more waiting. We are marching. Today."
It strikes me that we are in a time when there are so many voices, and not just in the political world, that many of us are left wondering what we really have to do and do today.
Rarely have I remembered a time when we have more needed a clear call and vision for what it is that we are to do.
Part of the reason for this is the incredible onslaught of social media and information that literally overwhelms us with content.
In the midst of all this, the really important things get lost and the clear "voice" is muffled by the shear volume of data that we receive.
That's why it's necessary, not just optional, for all of us to make time on a daily basis to quiet our souls and listen to God. We also need to read and study God's Word and trustworthy people in order for us to discern what God is saying for us to do. Today.
This is something that challenges all of us, but provides incredible rewards for those who are willing to pay the modest price to make the time to hear and to speak with absolute clarity.
Blessings,
Dr. Jay
