Most of you know that we are entering into some pretty choppy waters in a season of asking our church to step up and give of their financial resources to fulfill their pledges and complete the projects that we began two years ago.
Many would say this is quite “insensitive” or inappropriate in terms of what’s happening in the culture. I would suggest to you that the opposite is true. It’s in these very times that we have the privilege of making a statement that our ultimate trust is not in what the government or the economic forecasters are saying: it’s in what the Lord has said to us in His word.
At the end of the day this is all about faith. Faith believes God when circumstances say “you better give up.” Faith expresses itself when everyone else “hordes and hides” their things.
I’m grateful that we’re doing something public and rather bold in a time of economic fear because it’s saying with a certain level of God given confidence “We trust in our God more than we do in our own capacities.”
I encourage you to do a word study on “faith” in the Bible. Just visiting each of the 422 scriptures that contain that word will build your faith and help you to trust God in ways where you need to grow!
Blessings,
Dr. Jay
