It wouldn't surprise me if many of you who read this space may have forgotten that today, May 5, is the "National Day of Prayer" as declared by the United States Congress some 60 years ago.
It is a day when we "officially" set aside time to pray for our nation, our leaders, our people and our place in the tapestry of the world.
As usual, we had a relatively small but healthy group of people gather here at our main location to seek the face of God and to spend time in repentance, intercession, petition and worship. Prayer never loses it's appeal to me because the dynamic of God always seems to energize the simple words of our mouth.
I must say, however, that this season of prayer seemed particularly "timely" because of what's been happening on the international landscape with regard to terrorism and the eyes of the world being upon the United States.
We prayed for our leaders, we prayed for our families, we prayed for our churches and we prayed for the lost people of the world. It was a good hour and a reminder that prayer is still how things get done in the Kingdom of God.
Blessings,
Dr. Jay
