If you’ve been following along over the last days, you know that we had a big family wedding this past weekend and that for the past several days we had a singular focus with lots of details to cover!
Like many “big events” in our lives, the thing that makes them turn out well is attention to detail and willingness to pay whatever price is necessary to see that things get done.
On the other side, however, there is a need for recovery! There is a need to get away to find your “personal space” once again and just get some rest and refreshment physically, emotionally and spiritually.
It’s interesting that Jesus did the same thing with his disciples and since he was the Son of God and had power that we know nothing of, I would expect that it is ok for us to take the same liberty and make some time for recovery when we need it.
One other note: The great thing about weddings is the infusion of hope that they bring to the entire spectrum of life. They remind you that God created you to be in relationship that transcends every other duty, calling or obligation. Then in the end, whatever price you pay to affirm that is well worth it! The best part of it is that we had fun in doing so and I’ll never forget the memories we made. They’ll just seem a little sweeter after we recover!
Blessings,
Pastor Jay
