This weekend, Pastor Curt Coffield introduced our new series on the book of Acts we’ve entitled “Back in the Day,” referencing the long standing heritage of North Way to try to be in the middle of the continuum of faith between truth as clearly revealed in God’s Word and passionately living out that truth in the Holy Spirit.
It’s fair to say that no one church has this down perfectly and it’s also true to say that many sad stories exist on both sides of the extremes.
What’s very important to me in these weeks is that we see this not just as a “church” thing or issue but, rather, a personal one. Where do you tend to lean when it comes to your own bias in regards to the detailed understanding and knowledge of God’s Word and the powerful outward living of that Word through the Holy Spirit in your life?
The answer is certainly not either/or, but in the middle, where God’s Word is lived out in an empowered way through your life.
I’m currently dealing with several very seriously ill people. God’s Word is comforting and reassuring to them, but it has to be ministered to them in faith through the Holy Spirit or nothing other than comfort will happen. With faith, the Lord raises the expectation that in fact miraculous things can take place!
I hope you won’t miss a single installment in this series, and encourage you to invite people to come and discover the wisdom of “living in the middle!”
Blessings,
Pastor Jay
