This past weekend we were richly blessed at North Way to hear the testimony of Jeff Hartings, former all-pro center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and learned about the ministry of Urban Impact headed by my friend Ed Glover.
The single most powerful “take-away” of the weekend was simply this: lives are changed one person at a time! Less you dismiss this as an obvious comment, far too many people think of ministry in terms of preaching, teaching and “big crowd” kind of gatherings.
In my experience, and in those of the people that shared this weekend, the opposite is true. It’s those individual investments in personal lives, one-on-one, that have an indelible and eternal impact on people.
The beauty of this truth, loved one, is that every person can be used by God to reach one other person! No one is eliminated by their calling or giftedness because every one of us can reach out and care for one other person.
I encourage you to ask the Lord to shop you that one person that you could reach out and touch with the love of Jesus. Be encouraged, God wants to use you!
Blessings,
Pastor Jay
Yay! How exciting to see that you've joined the blogosphere! Can't wait to keep reading and staying in touch with stuff at NW. Hope you're enjoying a great spring and let's go Pens! :-)
ReplyDeleteone at a time Pastor Jay...one at a time!
ReplyDeletePastor Jay,
ReplyDeleteSunday's service was fantastic and coming at the end of the Christian Alliance for Orphans conference was just a continuation of God speaking to me. 143 million orphans (and thousands added after the disaster in Myanmar) is indeed overwhelming but if we can help just one at at a time then we can make a difference - especially if we can get the entire church of Jesus Christ to engage. Thanks for the service Sunday - I have heard many, many great comments.
