Trustworthy Friends

We all need them, but all of us don’t have them. They are those rare people in your lives that under any circumstance and in every situation are “trustworthy”.

Let me interpret that for you. What that means to me is that you can count on this person to come along side of you, listen to your heart and share their perspective and counsel with you regardless of your response.

That last phrase is important. Some folks will only be friends if you follow their counsel and do what they say. The trustworthy friend gives you their counsel and support but allows you the freedom to respond as you are led by God’s Spirit.

You’re fortunate if you have one person like this and blessed if you have several. I’ve also found that these friends tend to not be in your life every day, but rather enter your life at times of need and communicate with you otherwise on a consistent basis.

If you are blessed to have friends like these in your life, then be sure to thank God for the gift and, if not, I can’t overstate how important it is for those people to be there for those inevitable times when you truly need a trustworthy friend. I’m in one of those times right now and I can’t begin to describe how much it means to me to have the gift of their presence in my life.

Rejoicing in His faithfulness!
