By now, most of us have heard the sad news that Senator Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Regardless of ones political views, we can’t help but be saddened by Mr. Kennedy’s situation.
What I found very interesting was that both Democratic and Republican Senate leaders interrupted their ”regularly scheduled” luncheons to bow their heads and say a prayer (as reported by MSNBC).
It is astonishingly true that when individuals find themselves facing circumstances that may be beyond their control, their outspoken views about the “separation of church and state” and other similar “religious” concerns are quickly put on the shelf. People want God in their lives when things take a difficult turn and, thankfully, He is always ready to answer.
I only wish that that same level of openness was the norm concerning every day matters of state when it comes to our national leaders. In my view, we need God to be involved in every issue of life. My prayers will be with the Senator and his family as well.
Blessings,
Pastor Jay
