One of the highlights of my day today was a long lunch with about 15 sharp young leaders on our church staff!

Many churches hope to have young leaders that are capable of stepping into positions of responsibility and move the vision forward, but we've been blessed with incredibly rich and deep people in nearly every position!

Perhaps the most important truth that was exchanged during that 90 minute period was the focus on relationships over performance. Every one of these folks is determined to do their job well, but they all understand that being with people, loving people and keeping people as the priority far outweighs any goal or specific program that they might initiate or inherit.

Emerging leaders are sharp. They keep me on my toes and remind me that they're every bit as bright as I was in those days and even more equipped to be ambassadors for Jesus!

I'm blessed to be part of a church that values this group of people and hope that we will multiply their numbers in the years to come.
