You never know when the Lord may have one of His great surprises for your life! Sometimes they are packaged in a difficult circumstance, but often they come in the form of unbelievable blessing.
Yesterday was one of those days for me. Our team had come up with the idea of building a service around the stories of people rather than the normal sermon for the primary content. I won’t go into a long explanation of the details of the service but let me say that it was something that had an impact on everyone that was present. The authenticity and power of the stories that were shared was so touching that even “hardened” skeptics had positive words of appreciation following the service and I couldn’t begin to count the number of handkerchiefs and Kleenex that popped out as people connected with those who opened their hearts and shared with us.
But deeper than all of that is the reality that the Holy Spirit was present in all that was being shared both in the testimonies and in the music that accompanied them. That was the great blessing: the presence of God!
That’s not to say that the Lord isn’t present when we don’t “feel” Him as was the case yesterday, but there is something enormously significant about those times when we know that God is with us in a mystical, even tangible, way. What a way to start the New Year and what a day for those of us who were privileged to share in what the Lord knew all along would be an amazing experience!
Blessings,
Pastor Jay
