In my studies last week, I pondered this verse in Luke 1:37, the literal words of the angel to Mary concerning the conception of her "Aunt Elizabeth" and her own pending "overshadowing of the Holy Spirit."
There's so much about how God works that we can't understand. However, the promises that are incredibly powerful and available to us from His word go beyond understanding: They are received by faith.
One of the things I love about the Christmas season is that so much of the narrative is simply believable based on historical data of that time such as the census called for by Caesar Augustus, the towns involved such as Nazareth and Bethlehem, etc., but none of it is HUMANLY possible!
So it is with our lives. There are reports that we'll all receive through this season that may challenge our confidence in God. There may be things that we're asked to do that we don't think we can do or perhaps accept things that we don't feel we can bear.
However, remember the words of the angel, "All things are possible." Luke 1:37
For me, right now, those simple words have the power to create life and hope in me that is incredibly important with regard to a number of pending decisions, provisions and possibilities that I believe God wants to birth through my life in the weeks ahead!
May the same be true of you.
Blessings,
Dr. Jay
