One of the things that I have learned over the years is the importance of expressing appreciation to others even when it may not seem like a “big deal” to me.
Many people question whether or not they’re making any difference in the world, let alone the Kingdom of God. It’s fascinating to see how a simple word of appreciation or encouragement can completely change someone’s perspective of their own value in the eyes of others, let alone the Lord.
There are some folks that don’t seem to need a lot of spoken affirmation, but everyone needs some along the way. The interesting thing is that it takes so little effort on our part and may mean so much to someone else.
In a culture that seems to focus on the negative and the inadequate, I want to recommit myself to seeing the positive and expressing appreciation in the days ahead. The best place to begin practicing this discipline is with the people you love the most.
Blessings!
Dr. Jay
