Today, the University of Pittsburgh was supposed to crush the #16 seed in the Eastern Division. No #16 seed had beaten a #1 seed in the history of the NCAA Basketball tournament.
I'm not in a location to see the game, but well into the second half Pitt is tied with ETSU.
The odds are heavily in favor of Pitt pulling away and winning the game, but the lesson is that in life, we should take nothing for granted because "underdogs" have an amazing will to win that can overcome almost anything.
I have seen this principle work in our favor as a Church scores of times. Huge corporations and wealthy institutions take us for granted as a "non-player" because we are a Church. They fail to understand that if our goal is "righteous", the Lord "fights for us" ( a term we see frequently in the Old Testament.)
So take heart if you find yourself facing "impossible odds". We are loved by a God with whom all things are possible, so put your trust in Him and know that if your dream is His, nothing can defeat you! EXPECT the Lord to step in; it is the first mark of true faith in a great God.
I still would love to see Pitt go all the way, but it will take a different level to get there!
Blessings,
Dr. Jay
Very thought provoking. How sad that we don't remember that we have God on our side more often. So simple yet profound.
