Don't Panic!

It’s an exhortation that I’ve seen running across my television set scores of times over the past couple of days. It’s coming from all of the TV networks who cover the financial markets around the world. They’re all saying that despite the precipitous decline in all of the financial markets, “Don’t panic”!

Their premise is that when fear drives your decisions they’re usually not well founded ones and come back to cost you dearly. Interestingly, I think that principle is true not just in investing but also in most every area of our lives.

I know people who won’t get involved in a small group because they are afraid of being overloaded in their schedule. They “panic” at the idea of being committed to going out one extra night a week. It’s sad when fear drives your decisions because that means that faith has been pushed out of the equation. The scripture says “Without faith it is impossible to please God”. Hebrews 11:6

And so, particularly as it relates to finances and God’s provision in your life, “don’t panic”! But also as it relates to the other decisions that you have to make on a day to day basis, let faith be your guide, never fear. After all, God is in control and nothing slips by Him without His approval. Be encouraged in these days because God wants to show you His incredible faithfulness.

Blessings,

Dr. Jay
