Yesterday, I had the privilege of worshipping with the Oakland community for their morning services. As most of you who read this know, North Way has 3 campuses and a venue which all operate interdependently using video technology to share the message, but with local campus pastors, worship and family ministries.
One of the things that was very clear to me was the hunger in the heart of the people who attended the Oakland campus. They were there to worship God, but they were primarily engaged in the message of the day and were tracking along in every detail of the sermon that Pastor Scott Stevens brought on “Freedom from Toil.”
The real joy that I had was interacting with the many students and young adults who were hungry to find meaning and purpose in life at an early age and to be rescued from wasting their most productive years chasing things that were meaningless. The message was “spot on” for those people and I found the entire experience very encouraging and uplifting!
If you’re part of the North Way family you need to visit our other campuses and get a feel for both the challenges and opportunities that God is presenting to us to spread the Gospel in different cultures and communities. What a great gift it is and one that we must lean into with even increased passion and commitment.
Blessings in Jesus,
Pastor Jay
